Marissa Bejarano is a Deputy District Attorney for the County of San Diego. She has worked as a prosecutor for over ten years. Prior to becoming a Deputy District Attorney, she worked as a Deputy Attorney General. As a Deputy Attorney General, she argued over 100 times in the California Courts of Appeal, and also argued in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court. She has 19 published opinions including: Doe v. Brown; Doe v. California Dept. of Justice; and People v. Neuman. In 2014, Marissa joined the District Attorney’s Office. She has been assigned to the Superior Court Division were she handled 29 trials, and is currently assigned to the Appellate and Training Division. Marissa has also taught Legal Writing as an adjunct professor for Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
Marissa served as a board member for the Chula Vista Elementary School District, board President for MANA de San Diego, and is currently Vice Chair on the Commission.
Her honors include Outstanding Service by a Public Attorney (San Diego County Bar Association), Leadership Award (10News), and being a Cool Woman Awardee (Girl Scouts, San Diego-Imperial County).
