Leah was the first Director of Education at the California Center for the Arts! She held that position from 1994 to 2000, paving the way for the Center’s ongoing success in school and community collaborations and educational and cultural partnerships. After leaving the Center in 2000, Leah held important leadership roles in the Arts, including Education Director for the Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland, President and COO of VSA Arts of California, Director of Art Programs and Fundraising Strategies at Aesthetics, Inc., and Director of Visual and Performing Arts at Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation in San Diego.
Leah is an accomplished and published poet and writer, including significant contributions to the book entitled “Teaching English Language Learners through the Arts” published in 2001.  Leah’s SUAVE program, which trained teachers to use the arts to teach a variety of school subjects) became a state-wide model for teachers and was widely implemented in local schools in Escondido, Fallbrook, Oceanside, San Marcos, and Valley Center. Leah re-joined the Center in November of 2014, and accepted the position of Director of Museum and Education in July of 2015.
