Appointed to the San Diego County Commission on the Success of Women and Girls in April 2019, Colleen Dillaway serves as the Director of Public Affairs at Cox Communications. In that role she’s responsible for community affairs including philanthropic giving, as well as media and employee communications for the company’s California customers who live in San Diego, Orange County, Palos Verdes and Santa Barbara. Colleen is a seasoned cable telecommunications industry executive who started her career in the industry more than 20 years ago. Before coming to Cox she worked in leadership roles at several of the top cable companies in markets across the country.
Her community service and volunteering efforts are considerable. In 2019 she served on the inaugural Executive Committee for the San Diego Police Foundation’s Women in Blue Luncheon. She also currently serves on the Board of Governors at San Diego Foundation and the Board of Directors of OneOC. Additionally, she is an active member of the San Diego Grantmakers Program Committee and a sustaining member of Junior League of San Diego. Previous board service spans several other notable community organizations in California; Girl Scouts—Joshua Tree Council, Goodwill of South Central California, Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Youth Leadership Bakersfield where she served as chair.
Her professional affiliations include Women in Cable and Telecommunications, where she was President twice, and National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications. She has also served on the executive boards for California Cable Telecommunications Association (CCTA) and the California Channel.
Born and raised in California, Colleen received her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude from UC Santa Barbara. Colleen and her family live in Poway.
